In this series I’ll try to answer the 10 questions I get asked most about this project. From “What do you do when you have no trade?” to “Don’t you miss having your own place?”, these questions pop up all the time (I almost created a bingo card for it). Have any more questions you want answered, let me know in the comments below!

So, what do I do when I have no trade?

The general answer is: “I try not to let that happen”.

I’m mostly booked a month in advance, so I do have a pretty good idea of where I’m going and that I won’t be homeless. It has been a close call a few times, with a trade getting confirmed only a few days beforehand. But, so far so good.

Of course, you never know and I suspect it will happen at some point, whether it is because of a full moon or because someone has to cancel at the last moment. Luckily there is a saying for these kinds of situations:

“That’s what friends are for”.

Many friends offered to host me in their spare bedroom or couch should the need arrive. Even people I’ve traded with often tell me I’m always welcome.

So I think the general conclusion is this:

“If you have (the support of your) friends, you can do anything”.
